CA06 - The Goëlo Coast

Self-guided walking tour in Brittany (France) on the coastal path along the Goelo Coast in St Brieuc bay from St Brieuc to Brehat islands via Binic, Saint Quay Portrieux and Paimpol.

The Goëlo Coast is located on the western side of the Bay of Saint Brieuc and stretches from Binic to the Pointe de l’Arcouest. The wild and picturesque coast is one of many contrasts : long sandy beaches alternate with clusters of rocks, which jut out into the sea and offer spectacular views at high tide. Tucked along the coast are yacht marinas and fishing ports ( Binic, Saint Quay-Portrieux, Paimpol ) which maintain their character today and offer pleasure even to those who simply stroll their quays. Several islands rest offshore, most of them piles of rocks but for one, the gem of the area : the Ile de Bréhat. This island of luxurious vegetation and charming country mansions is actually two smaller islands quiet different in constitution. The southern island, lush with vegetation, is linked to the wild, barren northern island by a simple bridge.
